What is the difference between a Kangen ionizer and a regular water filter?

A regular filter only removes contaminants from water — and that's it. A Kangen ionizer filters the water and then subjects it to electrolysis, which splits the water into an alkaline (antioxidant) stream and an acidic stream. This process produces water with negative ORP (a strong antioxidant), higher pH (alkaline) and micro-clusters of molecules (better cellular absorption). It is a completely different device with a completely different mechanism of action.

Is alkaline water safe for daily drinking?

Yes. Kangen alkaline water at pH 8.5–9.5 is safe for adults and children over 1 year of age. For infants, the device produces neutral water at pH 7.0. Enagic ionizers hold a Class II medical device certificate from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) — the only ionizer with such distinction. We recommend using neutral pH 7 water when taking medication.

How do I connect the ionizer? Do I need a plumber?

No. Kangen ionizers connect to your existing kitchen faucet using the included diverter or adapter. The entire process takes 10–15 minutes and requires no drilling or plumbing. Every device includes an installation guide, and we offer phone and video support at every step of installation.

How often does the filter need replacing and how much does it cost?

The FC1 filter for K8 and SD501DX models should be replaced every 6–12 months or after 6,000 litres — the device announces this vocally and on the display. The cost of an original Enagic filter is approx. 114 EUR. For daily use by a family of four drinking 2 litres per day, that's about 400–600 PLN per year — comparable to the cost of about 200–300 mineral water bottles you'll stop buying.
