Structured water (also called microstructured water) is water whose H₂O molecules arrange themselves into regular, smaller clusters. In nature, such water can be found in glaciers or deep mountain springs — places where water filters through rocks under high pressure over a long time.
To understand why this matters, we need to start from the basics: what is a water cluster and why does cluster size determine how well water hydrates your cells.
Water does not consist of individual, independent H₂O molecules. In reality, water molecules bond to each other through hydrogen bonds, forming groups called clusters. These clusters determine many of water’s physical properties.
The problem with regular water — tap or bottled — is that the clusters are too large. Regular water forms clusters of 15 to 26 molecules. Cell membranes have pores of a specific size — and these large clusters simply cannot pass through them.
